Chapter 3823 Poisoned
Three days had passed since Nathan, accompanied by his wife Penny and his team members Colin and Ava, arrived in Newcove, Ariarica. Their purpose was to participate in a grand feast, symbolizing unity between Earth and the Divine Realm, orchestrated by Bryon.
Representing the Divine Realm at the Adrune banquet, Nathan was without the company of Zach and others.
The Plaza Hotel in Newcove was heavily secured, with numerous armed soldiers and undercover agents in suits stationed at the entrance. Inside the lobby, various dignitaries exchanged greetings.
Bryon, mingling with his subordinates Wolfric, Jessica, and Paulo, socialized with international guests, holding a wine glass in his hand. Suddenly, the hotel doors opened, and an announcement was made: "Mr. and Mrs. Cross have arrived."
Following this, Nathan and Penny, accompanied by a few associates, made their entrance.
The room's attention immediately shifted to them.
Bryon, with a radiant smile, led the welcoming party. He extended a warm handshake to Nathan, saying, "Mr. Cross, we are honored by your presence." Nathan laughed and replied, "The warmth of your welcome is truly overwhelming."noveldrama
A host of Adrune Gods of War, warmongers, and esteemed gentlemen sequentially approached Nathan to greet him, while a swarm of media reporters gathered for photographs. Bryon then led Nathan to the conference room for a preliminary dialogue before the banquet commenced.
Meanwhile, Guinevere, Bryon's wife, approached Penny with a pleasant offer, suggesting, "Mrs. Cross, the local scenery is quite enchanting. Would you care to join me for a walk?" Penny glanced at Nathan and, receiving his affirmative nod, gratefully responded, "Thank you. Your kindness is much appreciated, Ma'am."
Following this exchange, she departed with Colin and Ava, accompanied by Guinevere.
Nathan, along with Bryon and others, proceeded to the conference room.
Inside, they settled into their seats according to rank, and a servant presented the champagne.
Bryon lifted his glass and clinked it against Nathan's, expressing, "To a successful partnership between Earth and the Divine Realm, and to enduring peace across various clans of the universe." Nathan smiled and raised his glass. "Wonderful!"
Together, they finished their drinks in one go. The assembly of Gods of War, warmongers, and renowned politicians also raised their glasses in a collective toast.
Standing beside Bryon, Woods couldn't help but curl his lips into a subtle, almost imperceptible sneer as he watched Nathan consume his drink.
Unbeknownst to Nathan, Bryon had orchestrated a sinister plan. He had stealthily added a new, undetectable poison to Nathan's beverage. The poison was colorless and odorless, and lethal enough to claim the lives of a hundred adults.
Bryon watched with disbelief, unable to fathom how Nathan could survive such a deadly concoction.
As they toasted and sipped their drinks, Bryon's face was etched with a smug smile. His mind focused on the upcoming discussion about the Earth Divine Realm collaboration, while he anticipated the poison's effect on Nathan.
As time passed, the toxin began its insidious work inside Nathan's body.
He quickly realized that something was terribly wrong.
A piercing pain radiated from deep within his chest, targeting his vital organs. His vision blurred, creating a chaotic mix of real and illusory
images, and sounds around hin
became erratic, alternating between distant echoes and startling proximity.
There's something wrong with the drink!
Shock and intense fury ignited within Nathan.
He had believed this event to be a genuine opportunity for open dialogue and cooperative planning.
Yet, Bryon's deceitful actions, tampering with his drink, revealed their true intentions.
How wicked of him!
Meanwhile, Bryon noticed Nathan's altered state. Maintaining a facade of concern, he asked, "Mr. Cross, what's wrong? Can't handle your liquor?" His words were laced with feigned worry. Subtly, he signaled to Wolfric and others, silently commanding them to be on alert. He also covertly indicated to the elite forces outside the conference room to stand ready for action. Wolfric and his team acknowledged the signal, understanding their roles.
Despite realizing that he had been poisoned, Nathan remained composed.
His physical resilience, fortified by his unique constitution, assured him that such a toxin would not easily claim his life.
What do you think?
