Chapter 2232 "Mmph!"

Renee was sitting beside the window, watching the floating clouds up in the sky when a sudden pain gripped her heart-as if it was clenched tight.

"What's wrong?" Justin asked nervously. Sitting across from her, he could feel something wrong with her.

"I'm fine." Renee shook her head and tried to soothe her stuffy chest. "My heart suddenly hurt just now. I guess it's because of the sudden weightlessness when the plane took off." Justin sighed in relief. "I've heard that some people might get dizzy or feel their ears ring because of weightlessness, but I've never heard of hearts aching."

"It's fine. It's something rare, I guess. I'll feel better after a while." Renee waved his concerns away, taking a deep breath.

She picked up the cup in front of her and sipped some water, and felt better. Perhaps the water had cooled her heart.

However, Justin felt a little uneasy. He knew her heart wasn't his though their destination was the same.

"If you can't forget about him, you don't have to get off the plane once we land. You can ask the airport to change your flight to Beach City." Justin flexed his fingers, veins bulging on the back of his hands. He didn't mean his words, but tried his best to say them for Renee's sake.

"You..." After a pause, Renee looked up. Tears gleamed in her eyes, but she looked certain." You don't want me anymore, do you?"

It broke Justin's heart. "Nonsense! I've yearned for you, and I dreamed of starting a family with you. I'll never give you up."

"Then, why did you say that?" Renee looked hurt and teary.

"I don't want to force your hand. I'm worried that you decided just because you were touched after I saved you. Who knows, you might regret it later when you're calmer," Justin said, looking dispirited and helpless.

Most of the time, winning something doesn't mean victory. On the other hand, a loss could be felt for an eternity. Justin didn't want his wife to spend her life missing another man.

If that was the case, he would rather never get the chance to be with her. At the very least, she would remain beautiful in his heart, the untouchable figure who would never fade with time. He feared they might end up hating each other in time if they didn't marry for love. It would fill them with regret.

"You didn't force my hand. I chose to spend the rest of my life with you after I thought it through." Renee kept her head low but didn't cry. Instead, she was calm. "I knew the choice I had to make when he didn't appear. I waited for him until the last moment."

"So, am I your second choice?" Justin stared at her, suddenly finding himself very inferior. He laughed at himself. "I wonder, is this a reward or punishment for me?"noveldrama
