Chapter 46
Chapter 46:.
“I… I should be going now. Please excuse me, young master. I am so sorry to interrupt you and Miss Downey.”
Hayden heard the maid give hurried explanations and her footsteps trailing off.
“Uh, that’s not the case.” Hayden trotted to the door and wanted to explain. However, when he opened the door, there was no one to be seen in the hallway, as if it was just his wishful thinking.
He felt like crying, but he couldn’t shed a tear. Now it seemed that she would not be able to explain the misunderstanding clearly.
“Do all the servants in your house always appear out of nowhere?” She looked at Joseph bitterly.
Joseph didn’t understand. He looked at her with a frown. “What’s wrong?”
“Forget it, it’s nothing.” Hayden didn’t think she could convince him if she told him people would talk, so he didn’t bother. Holding the towels in his arms, he was about to leave, but standing in the hallway, something seemed to come to his mind.
She turned around and said, “By the way, if you have time, please spend more time with Noah. I noticed he was feeling very insecure, you must have seen how happy he was today playing with Stella. He really needs someone to keep him company, but you can’t just leave him in the hands of other people. He needs someone he likes to go with him and take care of him.”
I had originally planned to ask if Joseph really had to marry Violet. After all, Noah seemed to really dislike that big star, and that woman didn’t seem nice either. However, after a second, Hayden felt it would be odd for her to ask such a question. It might make others think she had ulterior motives, so she desisted.
It was someone else’s family matter anyway.
Seeing Hayden’s sincere and concerned look, something suddenly occurred to Joseph. Without hesitation, he blurted out, “You can stay here to take care of him from now on.”
His deep voice echoed in the large villa. Hayden was stunned. “What… do you mean?”
Joseph’s brow furrowed slightly, which she didn’t see. With a trace of surprise in his eyes, he looked as if he didn’t believe what he had said. She quickly looked away to avoid his gaze. When he spoke again, his tone became much more indifferent.
“The nanny salary for you to take care of Noah will be triple your salary as hotel manager.”
Hearing that, Hayden seemed a little relaxed. She thought Joseph was playing with her. Hence, she half-jokingly replied, “I wouldn’t think about it even if you paid me ten times as much. From a career development standpoint, I don’t think taking care of your son would be better for me than continuing to be the hotel manager. Mr. Beckham, please don’t worry. I’m still concentrating on the ST Hotel, you don’t have to test me like this.”
Joseph looked expressionless. He did not speak further.

After she had left, he closed the door to his room, still remembering what he had said as he stood there. An inexplicable fluctuation appeared in his heart.
Why did I ask her to stay, he wondered to himself. He thought he had overthought it? How had he come up with such an idea?
From a general point of view, she was only his subordinate, an intern; from a private point of view, he had only known her for a few months. To have such an idea, he was totally contrary to the sensible man he used to be.
After thinking about it for a long time, he attributed all this to the fact that Noah liked her and her daughter very much.
However, even though he had found the reason to explain his question, he was still suffering from insomnia, tossing and turning all night.
Hayden, on the other hand, was totally different from Joseph.
After taking a bath, Hayden looked in the mirror and used the expensive skin care products in the guest room of the Beckham villa. After applying a face mask, which was so expensive that he had decided to ignore his self-love and put on the whole box, he lay down on the king-sized bed with Stella in his arms.
She felt too comfortable.
“Mommy, isn’t it cozy?” Stella asked matter-of-factly as she snuggled into her mother’s arms.
Hayden nodded with the mask on his face. “Of course it is.”
“Didn’t I tell you money could do everything? Mommy, as long as you can get married, all those things are yours.” Stella’s eyes were full of encouragement. She rolled over and lay on Hayden’s chest, looking extremely expectant.
Raising his eyebrows, Hayden touched a finger to Stella’s forehead. “You want to sell your mommy for so little profit? I should take you to see more of the world, I used to be very rich too, you know.”
Covering her forehead, Stella pouted. “I know, you became poor just because you gave birth to me. So I hope you can become rich again.”
When they were abroad, the man, whom Stella only saw once or twice a year and addressed as daughter, had once told her that her mother used to be the daughter of a rich family. But because her mommy had given birth to her, she could not return home. So Stella always knew how to behave and not make her mother angry.
“What’s the difference between being rich or not? Stella, aren’t we having a happy life now?”. Hayden closed her eyes, she looked relaxed and cheerful, “Even if we are rich, we can still sleep in a bed in a room every night and every day we can only eat three meals. Besides, we have to be alert to people’s unkind plots, compared to the past, I prefer my current life.”
Seeing that her mother was not ambitious at all, Stella let out a very sophisticated sigh. “Mommy, you can’t think this way.”
“…”.
“Mommy.”
Hayden didn’t speak to her again-he had already fallen asleep.
Stella was helpless. It seemed impossible that her mother would light up and take this opportunity. So she decided to start with handsome Joseph.
The next day, Hayden and Stella stayed a whole day at the Beckham villa. In the evening, Joseph drove them back home in person, much to Hayden’s surprise.
“Thank you so much, Mr. Beckham.” After getting out of the car, Hayden and Stella got out of the car as they thanked him for the ride.
Joseph was standing in front of their car. In a deep voice full of strength, he replied, “It’s okay, it’s nothing.”
Stella raised her head to look at Joseph. “Joseph, could you bring Noah over to our apartment next weekend?” Her immature voice echoed uptown.
Hayden looked at her in confusion. Nanny, how come you invite someone so lightly, did you ask my permission, she thought to herself.
But then she thought that Joseph was very busy, so it would be impossible for him to agree.
“Sure.”
As soon as Hayden came to, she heard him nod. Then his confused gaze fell on Joseph.
Joseph, however, seemed quite calm and natural. He reached down and rubbed Stella’s cheek affectionately. “I’ll bring Noah over next Saturday is that all right with you?”
“Of course!”
Stella put on a suddenly serious face, but then grabbed his collar, kissed him on the cheek and ledijo, “This is a seal of our deal, Joseph, please keep your promise.”
Joseph was stunned for a moment. Touching his cheek, he suddenly smiled. “Ehn.”
There was rare tenderness in his smile, which suppressed Hayden’s anger at Stella’s impudence. Hayden stared at him for a long moment before coming back to his senses.
He suddenly realized that Joseph was so serious usually because he could have rigorous logical consideration. After all, even if he rarely smiled, there were many women lining up to become his son’s stepmother. If he smiled, he feared they would be willing to become his mistresses.
For some reason, he suddenly remembered last night’s half-minute in the bathroom.noveldrama
She blushed, her cheeks flaming.
